About Daventry Country Park

We operate a small cafe with a covered seating area offering a full range of ice cream, both wrapped and soft whipped, tea coffees and a range of soft drinks. If you're feeling hungry we can offer a tempting selection of cakes, muffins, crisps and confectionery and also hot food iincluding toasties, sandwiches, grilled foods, fries and baked potatoes.

The Country Park is an ideal place to come and enjoy the countryside with beautiful lakeside scenery, flowery grassland and shady woodland. In addition, there are also the following attractions: an adventure playground, toilets, interpretation centre, cafe (provided by Mr Creatons foods), circular walks, day ticket angling, bird-watching hides and picnic areas. There is a canoe-club, a model-boat club and a nature-club for children. A ranger service provides public guided walks, school education activities, a classroom for hire and a number of annual countryside events.

Plentiful parking is available and the site is open seven days a week all year round.

The central feature of the Country Park is a canal-feeder reservoir. This is fringed by a range of wetland habitats and surrounded by areas of woodland and grassland with mature hedgerows. This wide range of habitats encourages a rich variety of wildlife, and a place for quiet enjoyment of the countryside.

Walking is flat, albeit a little muddy in places during the winter. Not all paths are ideal for wheelchair use but there is no reason why the more intrepid person cannot complete a full circuit of the park as there are no hills, steps or styles. Waymarking of the two circular routes is achieved with blue (long reservoir circuit) or yellow (short meadow walk) arrows painted onto posts, trees, walls and fences. We hope that you enjoy your walk, but if you do experience any difficulties please inform one of the rangers so that any problems can be promptly rectified.
